Situated in between Yosemite Valley and Bishop, Mammoth Lakes is surrounded by some of the worlds best climbing. The monstrous granite walls of Yosemite Valley are just over two hours away and bouldering in Bishop is 45 minutes down the grade, which makes Mammoth Lakes the perfect year-round base camp. In addition to Yosemite and Bishop, there are numerous climbing areas within and around the town of Mammoth that are less than 30 minutes away.
Just a few popular climbing areas include: Clark’s Canyon, Owens River Gorge, Rock Creek Canyon, Pine Creek Canyon, and Mammoth and June Lake areas. There is an incredible diversity of rock quality, and route difficulty and type at each crag. Whether you are looking for easy day cragging or multi-pitch climbs, you are sure to find it in the greater Mammoth Lakes area. The Eastern Sierra also offers access to incredible alpine and ice climbing.
