First Snow in Mammoth Lakes!!!

Sep 4, 2013 | Blog | 0 comments

Today (October 22, 2012) we finally got our first real snow in the town of Mammoth Lakes!  Today also happens to be my Sheppard’s 7thbirthday.  Yep, that’s right folks….for those of you who know my favorite grumpy bitch, well she just turned 7 years old today.  And good ol’ June-Bug got her birthday wish after…SNOW!  There’s nothing that makes June happier than some fresh powder to frolic around in.  And with the minimal winter we had last year, we all could use strong start.  Let’s just hope that things keep up and we continue to get snow through the proceeding weeks.

Mammoth Mountain Ski Area has set its opening day for November 8th, and that’s right around the corner.  This early season wet snow will help to create a good base, so even if we don’t get any precipitation in the next few weeks, the snow that they will be blowing should stick real well to this good natural base.  We got about 4+ inches in town, but Mammoth Mountain is reporting 13 inches of fresh new snow from this storm.  And good news….it’s still snowing as I write this.  Check out Mammoth’s conditions.
