If you are new to the Mammoth Lakes area and looking for a memorable dining experience, look no further that Skadi! Skadi is a well-established fine dining restaurant located on Old Mammoth Road just above Thai’d Up. I believe the name “Skadi” is Norwegian for “snow goddess”.
Chef Ian Algeroen is a magician with food and is known for his brilliant blend of quality, presentation, flavor, and pairing. Everything is made to order and as fresh as it gets…even down to the parmesan snowflake that tops the Classic Caesar. Main dishes include savory delights such as maple Leaf Duck Breast with Arctic Lingonberries, Juniper & Aquavit or the Pork Belly Confit and Roast Tenderloin with Cinnamon Roast Peach Puree . And if you like lamb, well the Seven Hour Braised Lamb Shank just falls right off the bone!
The ambiance there at Skadi is nothing to overlook either. I like to always recommend making a reservation for a time prior to sunset and plan your meal accordingly so that you can enjoy the amazing views as you work your way through courses. The 270 degree upstairs view provide an unmatchable Mammoth dining experience. Whether you are looking at colorful Laurel Mountain, picking out backcountry ski lines on the Sherwin’s, or reminiscing on your day at Mammoth Mountain Ski Area, I can’t think of a better way to watch the sun set and enjoy a meal.
And for those of you who enjoy a nice glass of wine (or perhaps a full bottle) with their dinner, Skadi has an extensive wine selection to pair with anything your pallet may desire. In addition to their wines, Skadi also has a full bar and a wide selection of specialty cocktails.
Skadi can be found online at www.skadirestaurant.com where you can see a full menu, see hours, look up location, and check seating availability. Reservations can be made by calling 760-934-3902. You can also check out all the other happy customers at Yelp.
And in the summer months, if you are in town on a Sunday, come by Skadi for their Burger Night! Homemade buns, high-quality local beef, fingerling potatoes, portabella mushroom burger option, Jarlsberg cheese, etc.
