This is probably my favorite event that the mountain hosts every year. The event began almost 20 years ago. The basic premise of it all is to celebrate the magic of the holiday season. The Night of Lights takes place at Canyon Lodge and uses the ski slopes between chairs 8 and 16 as the mystic backdrop to it all. It’s open to all ages and everyone from a newborn child to a grumpy old man should have a smile on their face by the end of it. Fireworks and torch lights combined with skiers, snowmobiles, snow cats, chairlifts, and of course Mr. Woolly Mammoth himself! What else could one ask for?!?!?!
Here’s the lineup of events:
3-6pm Free concert by Big Wednesday in The Village
4-6:30pm Kid-friendly activities at Canyon Lodge
5pm Night of Lights festivities and food concessions open
6:30pm Night of Lights Extravaganza including a torchlight parade, lazer show and fireworks
7:30-8:30pm Live music by Big Wednesday and roaming entertainers in The Village at Mammoth.
But don’t forget to dress warm! This amazing event is held outside. And if you plan on driving your own vehicle (versus using the local free transportation), be sure to leave early….as parking always fills up quickly. Click on the link above for more details about other places to park and use of the free shuttle service.
