Good news Socal…Mammoth Mountain just announced yesterday that both Canyon Lodge and Eagle Lodge are scheduled to open this Friday, December 7th! That means in just a few days we’ll have the entire mountain open for winter recreation. Supposedly we already have the most skiable terrain open in the Unites States and we are about to open up the entire other half of the mountain. That equates to 3500 acres of skiable terrain. So whether this is your first day skiing, your sponsored, or you just wish you were sponsored…it looks like there is a playground for all levels. You’ve gotta love Mammoth!!!
Thank you Mother Nature for that last storm that left us with 4-6 feet of fresh new snow that has made for an amazing base. Mammoth Mountain is claiming that we have a 50-70 inch base as of today…not too shabby! That includes 95 trails that are currently open and in which 43 of those are groomed.
Yep…that’s right…I took this picture just yesterday getting off the gondola when they opened the top. Not bad…3 days into December and our “top of the mountain” sign is just about buried! With Christmas, New Years, and the Night of Lights just a few weeks ahead of us, this has been a good start to the 2012/2013 winter season. And after last year, boy did we need it!!!
Here’s a quick photo of the bottom Gondola line yesterday once they opened the top. Yes, it was well worth it!!!
