For those of you looking for an adventure while vacationing in Mammoth Lakes, a bike ride might be just the thing. With hundreds of trails, stretches of well-paved roads, newly installed bike paths, and the largest downhill bike park in West Mammoth has something to offer every skill level. Whether your looking for a relaxing tour of the town or a hart-thumping downhill ride, the outdoor stores available in town as well as on the mountain are waiting to suit you up and get you on your bike. Besides being a great physical activity, biking in the Sierras allows you to experiences the scenic beauty surrounding Mammoth Lakes in a whole new way.

For those looking for a great workout in one of the most magnificent places, Eastside Velo, a local road biking club, has a number of group rides scheduled throughout the summer. The pie ride, reverse century, and Benton Hot springs ride are just a few of the planned rides open to everyone. If group rides aren’t your thing you can hop on the bike paths in town, stretching all the way up to the lakes basin, or ride one of the many local loops, such as the scenic loop. When roads just aren’t your cup of tea, check out one of the village championship cross country rides out of shady rest park put on by Mammoth Outdoor Sports every Tuesday night at 5 o’clock. If you had to leave your bike at home don’t fret! Footloose sports and Mammoth Outdoor Sports have number of different models available for rent.

If you’re more interested in gaining some speed and pushing your limits, the Mammoth Mountain Bike Park is the place for you. Here you can enjoy over 80 miles of single-track trails with incredible scenic views. The trails offer a variety of difficulty levels ranging from very beginner to expert. Looking to rent a downhill bike? Mammoth Mountain offers a large selection of brand new rocky mountain bikes as well as free overnight storage for multi-days rentals. Downhill tickets, which include bus transportation, as well as pedal only passes, which require bikers to ride back up the hill, are available for sale at the Main Lodge ticket rental office or online.

This September 4th– 8th Mammoth Mountain will be putting on the Kamikaze Bike games once again. This multi discipline bike festival has something to offer everyone. The fall century road ride, Dual Slalom, food, music, and of course great beer are just a few of the activities included in the festival. So come on out and enjoy the fun!
